I would like to contact any members of this family or other researchers and exchange information.

J R   21 Oct 2007

Can anyone tell me if the written minutes for the 1900 and 1901 City Council Meetings still exist?  At that time, I believe the members were called Aldermen.    If they do exist, can anyone do a lookup for me?  If no lookups are available, where might I find the records so that I can research them the next time I am in Kerrville?

Also, can anyone tell me about the Scofield School in Kerrville, during the early 1900's?
Thank you.   J R

Seeking information on the William Jasper COKER family.   He moved to Kerr Co from Alabama in about 1876.   He married Mary Melissa BURKS in Kerr Co in 1879.   I have a family picture from about 1902 showing the parents and 6 children.   All of the children were born in Kerr Co (I think).   The family records sort of disappeared after 1880.   I found Mary (Molly) Coker in the 1910 census with a child, Roy, age 9.   I don't have much on the BURKS, either.   Thanks for any information anyone can give.   James Greene,  Grapevine, Texas.

Does anyone know anything about Nathaniel E. ATCHENSON (spelled as such in 1880 census)/Nat Atcheson-Atchison (spelled in Kerr County 1856 to 1956) who immigrated from England to Kerrville in the 19th century sometime before 1879.  Edward Percival DURHAM was living in his household along with several other young men from England who were “learning to farm” according to the 1880 Kerrville census.  Edward was the son of my great-grandfather, Frederick DURHAM, from his first marriage.  Frederick did not immigrate to Kerrville until 1883 and I am trying to identify what/who brought the family to Kerrville.

Also, do any of you know where in Yorkshire, England, Ben A. DAVEY was from?  He immigrated from Yorkshire to Kerrville in 1871 according to Kerr County Texas 1856 to 1956. I am trying to identify possible connection to my great-grandfather, Frederick DURHAM,  who also immigrated from Yorkshire in 1883.

William Muller 14 Aug 2006

Seeking information on the wives and children of Howard Appleton Negley (1898-1983). Howard was the son of Felix Casper Negley, Jr. and Mary Seaton Appleton. Born in Butler, PA, he moved to Texas and lived on his sister’s ranch in Kerr Co., TX Howard was a sometime actor and had roles in a number of Hollywood films

His filmography reads: “American general purpose actor Howard Negley made his screen bow as Nelson in 20th Century Fox's Smokey. Negley went on to reasonably prominent character parts in such B-pictures as Charlie Chan in the Trap (1947). For the most part, he played nameless bit parts as police captains, politicians, and reporters. Howard Negley was last seen as the Twentieth Century Limited conductor in Hitchcock's North by Northwest (1959)”~ Hal Erickson, ALL MOVIE GUIDE.

Howard served briefly in the U.S. Army (Sept. – Dec, 1918).   He had two or three wives: We do not know the names of his first two wives (or was it only one), but he had two unnamed children with each (or was it four with one?). In 1974 he married Lydia Powell in Kerr Co., TX.    Howard was a great, great grandson of Alexander Negley of Pittsburgh, PA.

QUESTIONS: What were the names of wives 1 (and 2). What were their birth and death dates.   More importantly, what were the names of his children (who still may be alive in the Kerr Co., TX area)?
Willing to share information.     Bill Muller

Eliza J. (Boggs) GILMAN 1827-1921, my Great-great Grandmother, and Sarah F. GILMAN (1854-1926), a daughter of hers, are buried in Nichols Cemetery in Kerr County.   If these two graves are marked, is there anyone who could take a picture and e-mail to me?  Let me know if there is a charge.    Thank you.

James Greene 18 Mar 2006

My Great Grandmother was married in Kerrville in 1885.   Her maiden name was listed as Arra BRINKHOLT.  The license shows spelling as "BRIMHALT" and the certificate shows spelling as "BRINKHALT".   In the Oklahoma Territory census for 1900, it states that she was born in Texas and married to James E COKER.   None of these maiden names of hers show in any Texas census for 1870, 1880 or 1900 and I don't think the spellings above are correct.   Does anyone know what her maiden name was and what the correct spelling is?   Thanks.   James Greene, Grapevine TX.
